My number one tip for packing to any Caribbean island is to travel light!
Smart casual clothes in lightweight natural fabrics will work best. It is warm and sunny but not unbearably hot all year round. The island life is very laid back so cute casual is the usual theme. One major tip is to leave your expensive jewelry at home, trust me you wont need it and you’ll be happy you left it safety home. The right clothes can really put you in a relaxed vacation mood. Knowing ahead of time how and when you are going wear your outfits makes your trip stress free. As the saying goes, when you look great, you feel great! Here are some tips on what to pack, and what to wear on a Caribbean vacation.
Before we go into actual outfits for the beach, here is a few travel necessities wherever the vacation location:
Travel size toiletries
Cosmetics/skincare
Medicines if needed
Book or reading tablet
Sunscreen
Passport
Just remember the main tricks to packing for a beach vacation are to pack light and casually cute. The trick is to pack your bag with extremely versatile pieces that can each be worn over and over again while still looking fresh. Maxi dresses are also super nice to have for any occasion. Don’t pack anything too fancy because chances are you won’t wear it. There is just no sense in lugging around clothes you don’t need, particularly for a Caribbean trip.
When in the islands I highly recommend dresses. You will, for the most part, being wearing a bathing suit daily. It’s so comfortable to slip a dress on and off. Not only that but they are cool, cute and comfortable when it’s hot. They are easy to dress up for evening wear and dress down for daily wear. PLUS they back well.
For tops I recommend light and airy material like a linen tank top, cotton shirt in white, an off the shoulder top, and a casual striped loose-fitting tee. The sweater can be worn as a light coat if necessary or switched out for a jean jacket or other light styles. I don’t recommend the color black in the islands, since its hot you definitely don’t want to attract any more heat to your body.
For pants and shorts I don’t recommend any long jeans. Leave those at home, trust me! You wont even wear them because all you’ll want are shorts. Luckily, shorts are comfortable and easy to pack!
As for shoes I think you will only need two or max three pairs of shoes. Stay nuetral with your colors so that you can match it with all of your outfits. Bring one pair of sandals and one pair or close toed shoes just in case you go hiking (if you’re not the hiking type bring other pair of comfortable shoes). Your sandals can be worn with the bathing suit, shorts, or dresses.
DON’T FORGET A SWIMSUIT, HAT AND SUNGLASSES!
