Long Flight Essentials

Side Note: With less than a year under my belt, I would consider myself a new blogger. When I started my blog last summer, I chose super broad topics; however, the more posts I write, the more I notice that I enjoy writing more about life, beauty, and wellness. With that being said, this will be my last and final travel post. Thank you to everyone who has read my travel posts or even clicked on them. ♡
I have been on quite a few long flights that were over 9 hrs. Us regular fliers travel on economy, and honestly, it doesn’t bother me as long as I get to my destination and I’m prepared for the long travel!
Being prepared for a long flight is essential in order to be as happy as possible when crammed next to strangers on a stuffy airplane!
I have learned my lesson the hard way by not being prepared so now I made a list and I checked it twice to share it with you all.
Here are some tips and tricks to help you live your best life on a long economy flight.
Preparing for your trip is vital when making sure you’re a happy camper for the upcoming hours.

Make sure to pack carry-on luggage along with your purse or small bag. Doing so will help you fit all the essentials you could ever want and need.
Items To Pack in Your Carry-On:
-
Facial Cleaning Towelettes; just something to help you feel a little more clean when you are feeling dirty on the sixth hour.
-
Toothbrush & Toothpaste; this is a must for me! I’m not sure how people do long flights without brushing their teeth at least once during the flight.
-
Travel Deodorant; this goes alongside having a toothbrush. Be hygienic, for you and the person sitting next to you!
-
Lip balm & Moisturizer; the air is always so dry on an air plane, anything to help you feel more comfortable that is easy to pack is seen as an essential to me.
-
Reusable Water Bottle; stay hydrated! Having your own water bottle allows you to have water nearby instead of asking for 1000 small water cups from the flight attendant.
-
Hair Ties; if you have long hair or hair at all you know what I mean when I say you need hair ties on a long flight!

-
Emergency Entertainment; most long flights have a tv and those are awesome! However, not all do, so be prepared with downloaded movies and entertainment on your android, phone, or laptop.
-
Gum; to help you with flight take off and landing.
-
Headphones; obvious :)
-
Pack a Portable Charger; having a dead or low battery phone is the worst! Especially when traveling, be prepared and at least pack one.
-
Travel Pillow; when I first traveled to Australia on my 13+ hour flight I didn’t have one of these pillows and staying comfortable was so hard. After arriving, my neck hurt for a few days, however, on my way home I made sure to buy one of these for just $11. This pillow is ideal for long flights, it is so useful and it made me so happy to have one to help prop my neck up.

As a tip, make sure to wear the right clothes. I like to dress very comfortably in leggings, a long t-shirt, and sneakers. If you’re someone who wants to look cute in an airplane, bring an extra pair of comfy clothes just in case you change your mind.
Another tip is to bring a jacket, being stuck, sitting on an airplane can be so miserable! Don’t do that to yourself.
When traveling to another country, be sure to bring a travel adapter! This will help you charge your phone, portable charger, and entertainment for the flight.
A delicious inflight meal is uncommon. Don’t count on eating airline food. Bring your food and, if you get something decent from your airline, consider it a bonus.
-
Nuts – Especially almonds. Avoid salted nuts which will make you more dehydrated.
-
Fruit – Bananas, apples, or dried fruit without added sugar work well and won’t make a mess.
-
Trail Mix – Stick to mixes of nuts, dried fruit, and seeds.
-
Bars – Clif Bars work well as do fruit and nut bars. Just check the nutritional information because many bars are loaded with sugar and artificial ingredients.
-
Dark Chocolate – For enduring a 6+ hour flight, you deserve a treat.
